Background: Hyperglycemia is a common side effect and it has long been recognized as consequence of corticosteroids L-asparaginase, chemotherapeutic agents key to ALL treatment. This study was done determine the frequency identify risk factors for hyperglycemia in paediatric during induction chemotherapy.
Material & Methods: prospective observational among 87 newly diagnosed cases 1-18 years age. After initial work up patient got chemotherapy according UK 2003 (modified) protocol BSMMU. Anthropometric measurements CBC, RBS/ 2 hours after glucose/ FBS corresponding urine sugar assessed 2nd, 4th, 6th 9th dose Lasparaginase completion induction. Data were analyzed by SPSS 17.0.
Results: Eight patients (9.75%) cohort developed hyperglycemia. Among ³10 age 36.8% had compared 1.6% younger children (p<0.001). No gender difference found.
